  1. Arizona Moon

From the recording Arizona Moon

I first moved to Nashville in 1998. I was frequenting a Writer's Showcase Night at the Broken Spoke. Mike (the co-writer of AZ Moon) was one of the many writers that spent their time at this showcase venue. Before we would go up to showcase our songs in "a Round", we would tune our guitars in the back room. I still remember Mike sitting on the floor, in this back room, telling me he had an idea for a song. He sung the first lines. It was about me, and he thought it must be how I was feeling, just moving to Nashville from Arizona. He asked if I'd like to write the rest of the song with him.

Lyrics

ARIZONA MOON
Michael Shipley & Penny Menze   (C)1998
Verse: The Arizona Moon Hanging in a western sky,as I pulled out on the interstate told that place good-bye. That desert dust was blowing Like the thoughts inside my mind. Thought I'd forget about you, when I left you behind.
Chorus: Arizona Moon, are you out tonight? I was feeling a little homesick and lonely for your light. As you paint a picture across the desert, like the one inside my mind, Arizona Moon…….Shine
Verse: The world is closing in on me, but I'm gonna be alright. Even though I don't have you To watch over me at night. Leaving was the only way I could start my new life. I may have moved on, but you're still on my mind
Chorus:  Arizona Moon, are you out tonight? I was feeling a little homesick and lonely for your light. As you paint a picture across the desert, like the one inside my mind. Arizona Moon…….Shine
Bridge: How I wish you could shine on me Down here in Tennessee
Chorus: Arizona Moon, are you out tonight? I was feeling a little homesick and lonely for your light. As you paint a picture across the desert, like the one inside my mind. Arizona Moon…….Shine
